1. Introduction
This Cookies Policy explains how nakamoto.be uses cookies and similar technologies, including local storage. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
We do not set any non-essential cookie before you agree to it. When you first visit the site, a banner asks whether you accept optional analytics. Until you choose Accept, none of the tools listed in section 4 are loaded.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Some websites, including ours, also use local storage, which works similarly but is not sent back to the server with every request.
- Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay for a set period or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies are set by nakamoto.be; third-party cookies are set by external services.
3. Cookies We Use Without Consent
These are strictly necessary to record your own privacy choice, or are designed so that they cannot identify you. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive they do not require consent.

We also run one measurement tool that stores nothing on your device and does not identify you:
- Ahrefs Web Analytics. Cookieless. It records aggregate page views without a persistent identifier and without cross-site tracking.
4. Cookies We Use Only With Your Consent
These load only after you press Accept. If you reject, or ignore the banner, they are never loaded and set nothing.
4.1 Amplitude (product analytics and session replay)
Amplitude records how visitors move through the site, including a replay of on-page interactions, to help us find where people get stuck.

4.2 HubSpot (contact forms and visitor analytics)
HubSpot powers our contact and newsletter forms and links form submissions to the visit that produced them.

4.3 Our own audience measurement
A first-party counter that records which pages are visited and where visitors arrive from.

Because this identifier persists for 30 days, it can recognise you on a later visit, so we treat it as requiring consent rather than as exempt audience measurement. It respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. The data stays with us and is not shared.
4.4 Fillout (booking form)
Our booking form is embedded from Fillout. The embedded form loads on the page, but only communicates with Fillout when you open it. If you submit a booking, the details you enter are processed by Fillout on our behalf.

5. Legal Basis
- Strictly necessary and cookieless measurement (section 3): these are exempt from the consent requirement under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. Where the underlying data is personal data, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and measuring our own website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Everything in section 4: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given through the banner. You may withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it.
6. Managing Your Choice
6.1 The banner
On your first visit you can either Accept or Reject. Both options are equally prominent and equally easy to use. Rejecting is not penalised: the site works identically either way.
6.2 Changing your mind
This reopens the banner so you can make a new choice. When you switch from Accept to Reject, we also delete the Amplitude and HubSpot cookies already stored on your device.
Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which the banner appears again so you can confirm it still reflects your wishes.
6.3 Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, under Privacy in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Blocking the cookies in section 3 may mean the site cannot remember your privacy choice, and the banner will reappear on every visit.
7. International Transfers
Amplitude is based in the United States, so accepting optional analytics involves a transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. HubSpot processes our data in the EU.
If you reject optional analytics, no such transfer takes place.
8. Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data through cookies. If you believe we have, please contact us.
9. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Section 6.2 is the quickest way to withdraw consent for cookies.
To exercise any other right, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
10. Updates to This Policy
We will update this policy when we add, remove, or change a tool that stores data on your device. Significant changes reset your stored consent, so the banner will ask you again rather than assuming your previous answer still applies.
